Parkgolf - The new golf game

Activity for everyone near Blåvand

  • Park golf is a relatively new type of golf that can be referred to as miniature golf on grass. It can be played from the age of 7 and is also a challenge for experienced golfers. Only condition is that you can walk 1 km. If you have difficulty walking, you can also use a 3-wheel electric scooter to get around.

A parkgolf course consists of 9-hole loops. The length and width of the holes are not precisely defined. However, they must not be longer than 100 m and the 9 holes must not be longer than 500 m in total. Parkgolf Blaavandshuk has 2 9-hole loops. If you play all 18 holes, you walk about 1,000 m and it takes from 90 minutes (4 people). You only need 1 club, 1 ball and 1 tee. The goal is to get the ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible. The ball is 6cm in diameter and the holes are 20cm in diameter - twice the size of regular golf.

Park golf uses the same terminology as golf. You tee off from the tee area. You have fairways, semi rough, rough and greens with flagsticks and holes. The ball can also go “Out of Bounds” if you miss-hit.

Park golf was invented in 1983 on the Japanese island of Hokkaido and took off from there. Today parkgolf is played by millions of people, e.g. more than 800,000 residents in Hokkaido, where the game is also practiced in schools, hospitals and rehabilitation clinics because it does not require outstanding physique and can be played equally by everyone regardless of gender and age. Park golf is also a competitive sport that can challenge good golfers.

  • Everyone in the group tees up in turn, hitting their first shot on the court.

After the first stroke, it is always the player farthest from the hole who goes next.

A whiff counts as 1 penalty stroke.

"Out of Bounds": You will find white "Out of Bounds" sticks around the courses. If the ball crosses a straight line between two sticks, the ball must be placed one club length back on the course, measured from the spot where it crossed the "Out of Bounds" line.

Areas with uncut grass are always "out-of-bounds".

You receive 2 penalty strokes for being Out of Bounds.

FREE DROP: If the ball is 'unplayable' because it is too close to a rock, stick or something, where it is not "out-of-bounds", there is a free drop (no penalty stroke). This means that the ball must be moved a club length - but not closer to the hole.

Hitting the ball inside a flower bed or in uncut grass is not allowed.

If your ball hits another person's ball, this ball must be returned to its original location.

If another player's ball is in danger of being hit, you can ask the player to play his/her ball first or to place it a club's length away. Remember to return it when the ball is to be played.

There is no max on the number of strokes. All strokes count.

The person who gets through 9 holes with the fewest strokes wins.

  • Grab the top of the club, with your left hand. Then place your right hand, below and against the left hand.

If you are left-handed, the left hand should be in the bottom position.

Stand with legs slightly apart and bend a little in your knees until you have good balance. Take a few practice swings without a ball.

The club must be swung in a straight line, like a pendulum.

Try to swing through while you focus on a blade of grass where the ball would be.

Place the ball on the tee on the plate and place the clubhead on the plate right behind the ball. Now, stand so that your nose is approximately over the ball when you bend your legs.

Notice the arrow on the upper side of the clubhead. This arrow has to strike the middle of the ball.

Swing the club back slowly – at most to horizontal – and swing it fast, striking the ball right on the arrow of the clubhead. Continue the swing of the club in the direction of the hole in a pendulum-like swing.

Once you have struck, you should continue to look at the exact spot where the ball used to be. If you don’t, you will move your body and fail to strike the ball properly.
